I like Perry's commitment and can't help but think that another manager might have got more out of him, but he's off anyway.

Will this necessarily be the case now, though? Maybe another manager could get something out of him.

Griff isn't a full back it was one of Deano's bizarre ideas to move him there
i thought that was Sinnott's doing?

Thinking back, I think it was Sinnott who played him there first against Bournemouth due to Stockley being suspended.

Which block are you sitting in Doreen? I'll take your pic if I spot you. :D

We haven't got the tickets yet Gerard, but Dad and I are going along too - so with his mad hat and Doreen's Dora the Explorer blanket we should be easy to spot! :D

Trust me April you won't. There are so many seats, 90,000 to be exact of course :D so you won't necessarily be, but on second thoughts I will look out for your Dad's hat and that should solve it. :D Seriously though, text me the block you're in and I'll do my best.

No, no, come on? We have got a great chance now of uplifting everyones spirits in a the form of a new manager and new players.

Nothing lifts the spirits more of it supporters than a new signing so why keep or give most of the squad that have been total dross
all season another chance?

Personally anybody out of contract should be released and replaced with new players.

Their is a reason we got relegated last season and finished near the bottom of this division this season you know.

Stay over until Sunday, Doreen, and you can join Eddie and I in supporting the Mighty Bay in the Vase final. You know you want to. :D

Might be a problem at home Jean, otherwise I would.

The Non-League Football paper says today that THREE coachloads of Vale fans are travelling down!

I am only aware of one Eddie and Andy Porter has got the tickets, think he might have said, if this is the case.

I'll echo the many sentiments on here and thank you for the reports Eddie, very enjoyable to read despite the way the season has gone.

I'm sure that you will here a calling from the new years honours people on your services to football. That has to rank up there with other decorated but lesser achievements. To travel the length and breadth of England, repeat trips for cancellations and to have to write about some of the drivel we have seen this season is an achievement in itself.

Totally agree about the teams promoted and relegated this year, and I'm looking forward to the trips to Hereford and Cheltenham a stones throw away from my home and aslo keeping everything crossed for Torquay.

I have mixed feelings regrding the retained list and new manager, but the statement in the Sentinel reagrding Glover could still be assistant, WHAT! Have these people complaetely lost their marbles? My season ticket money will remain in the bank until further notice.

Great summary, Worcs White.

I agree with you on everything. I'm beginning to despair. Whelk stall and Board come to mind. Or is it piss up and brewery? I too despair.

A massive thanks to Eddie, and I for one am looking forward to the new format. My favourite part of the reports is always the comments bit at the end.

I can't start a new thread in this forum but I'd like to say that I am looking forward to another season of Edward's fair and accurate reports. I just hope he can report on more victories, especially more home one's than last term. :hi:

Yes, Tosh, I hate having to report on defeats and poor performances seemingly all of the time. Since I started doing these we seem to have been perennial strugglers - hope there is no connection.

This gives me a chance to remind people that this time I'll not be doing such a comprehensive minute-by-minute section as I have done in the past, basically because it takes up such a huge amount of time. Instead I'll concentrate on a smaller number of key incidents, followed by the usual inane comments on who has played well etc. Hopefully people will not notice much difference.Sometimes I write the stuff over Saturday evening and Sunday morning and then wait for the goals to be on TV before actually posting the piece, especially if I've not been totally certain about how a goal went in. ITV won't be showing the goals on Sunday morning but the good news is that BBC will be showing them late on Saturday night so I'll be able to see the goals from the Vale game earlier than previously. I wonder what BBC will be doing as regards goals from midweek games?

I'm glad you see these efforts as fair-minded. If I sent them directly from the grounds they would seem less fair-minded! By the time I write them I've had a chance to calm down and be more objective, especially in relation to refereeing issues.

i'm really looking forward to BBC coverage :) (to be honest, it can't be worse than that ITV pap that Matt Smith used to do!)

To be honest Eddie, I used to speed read a lot of the minute by minute stuff and go straight to the bit at the end anyway. You can always go back to the BBC text commentary after the match if you want timings of key incidents anyway.
The Five Towns lie close to the heart of dear old England. They spread across the face of the countryside for many miles. Proud, unique and indispensable.

Do you drink from the cup? Do you eat from the plate? You have The Five Towns to thank for that. The Five Towns stand for progress and civilization.

When our story begins, Bursley was the largest of The Five, and it was also the proudest. Admittedly, it's atmosphere was inclined to be heavy, but some remarkable people breathed it.

Same for me, Santi. I much preferred to get straight to Edward's funny and dry sarcastic comments at the end. :D

Likewise, the summary at the end is the highlight of the reports.

Dunner stop doing them Eddie Jackson, for lazy gits like me who can't be arsed to go to games anymore they're invaluable.
